If you need help with everyday tasks or need care at home, you can apply for help from the municipality in the form of home help.

When, for various reasons, you can no longer manage your daily life without support, you can apply for home help. This is done via the municipality's assistance officer, who investigates and decides what help you are entitled to based on the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Special Support for Certain Disabled Persons (LSS).

The home care service is on site every day of the year between 07.00-21.30
The night patrol is on site every day of the year between 21.30-07.00

Technical aids in home care services

The home care service uses and offers some technical aids to ensure a good, safe and secure life for you. These are:

  • Electronic locks (keyless system)
  • Mobile phone (paperless planning and quick contact routes)
  • Digital social alarms (reliability)
  • Camera surveillance, so-called 'night faith' (surveillance without being disturbed)

Customer choice in home care

From December 1, 2012, the municipality of Härnösand has applied customer choice in home care services in accordance with the Act on Freedom of Choice Systems, LOV.

For those who have been granted home care, this means an opportunity to choose who will provide the services - the municipality's home care service or a private home care provider.

Night patrol

The night patrol works with users in their own homes with home care services at night. They have the entire municipality as their work area. They work on the basis of assistance decisions with both fixed granted night interventions and with security alarms. For those who wish, it is possible to receive supervision via a security camera.

The night patrol provides the user with the conditions to be able to live in their own homes, as long as they wish. All visits are registered so that you can follow that the visits are carried out, by whom and when.

Technical aids in home care services

Anyone who is assisted by home care services is entitled by law to receive the same help during temporary stays in municipalities other than their home municipality. If you are planning to stay in Härnösand for a period, you are therefore entitled to the same assistance from Härnösand municipality as you are granted in your home municipality.
